World Union of Saint Bernard Clubs
2001 SHOW LICHTENFELS GERMANY
It has long been my dream to travel to Europe with one of my Saints to exhibit at a major show. This became a reality when, together with her owners, Jaqui & Bryan Baynes, we decided to exhibit Youngstead Mona Lisa of Montacrie at the World Union of Saint Bernards (WUSB ) show in Germany in May 2001! This show co-incided with the 110th anniversary show of the Saint Bernard Club of Germany, held under the banner of the European Forum.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
At this point I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this venture , especially:
Clive and Sharlene Bergh of Shamare kennels in Namibia, Jaqui & Bryan Baynes of Baynest in Johannesburg , and our sponsors Nola, manufacturers of Bobtail dog food in SA. Special thanks go to Saint Bernard breeders and fanciers from all over the world for their encouragement and enthusiasm ; this was truly a joint venture by many people who had nothing personal to gain except the satisfaction of seeing a fellow breeder and Saint fancier realize a dream that at first seemed so far out of reach , as well as the opportunity to be a part of breeding potentially show winning Saint Bernards !
Being part of the International Saint Bernard fraternity is a wonderful experience which I hope to be able to continue to enjoy for many years to come .
ADDED BONUS
We decided that we would also look for a suitable stud dog for Mona Lisa while we were in Europe and chose Ch. Herman v. Wingert HD 0/0, owned by W&D Jung . Herman was the best longhair male and WUSB winner at the 1999 WUSB show in Portugal and exhibited many of the attributes we required in an "ideal" Saint Bernard . Herr Jung agreed that Mona Lisa could remain at his kennel in Weilburg-Gaurdernbach after the shows until she was ready to be covered and also agreed that we could use Herman as the stud dog ! The matings took place a week after the shows , while I was still in Germany, and we are looking forward to the litter of puppies with great anticipation .
